So we have been here 10 years now and although there are still parts of the Grand Massif, that we havnt touched ,we were pretty convinced thatwe knew most of what there was to know about our local ski area.
Seb our local ski hire shop owner had promised us that he had a few secrets to show us and all lift accessed!
We eventually prised him out of his shop and set off smugly convinced that we knew all there was to know about the Grand Massif.
We were kind of surprised when only two lift rides from the main Les Carroz telecabine he led us off around the back of a rock to an area we knew led to the legendary Gers bowl but via an aspect we had never considered possible.
Not only possible it was amazing, untouched powder for ever more right down to the bowl.
There followed more adventures at no time involving more than an easy traverse or at most 5 minutes uphill effort.
Once again demonstrating that despite having explored this area for years and doing a fair amount of walking up on skins etc,and trips with local mountain guides, there is always more to discover in this fantastic ski domain.
